(Note: the publication year is 2020)

Modern Epidemiology
Rothman, K.J., S. Greenland, and T.L. Lash. 3rd ed. 2008, Philadelphia, PA: Lippincott Williams & Wilkins.

Epidemiology: Beyond the Basics.
Szklo M, Nieto JF. 4th ed. 2019, Sudbury, MA: Jones and Bartlett.

The instructors highly recommend purchasing them, especially if you are focusing on epidemiology in your graduate studies. Modern Epidemiology in particular is a useful reference as it is denser and more encyclopedic than Epidemiology: Beyond the Basics. PHW250B can be completed without purchasing both textbooks, as many of the chapters have been scanned and included in weekly readers, and scans of the textbooks are available through your UC Berkeley. Note there is a limit to the number of students who can view the scanned textbooks at once, so purchasing your own copy will be more convenient.
