Career Counseling
Career counselors are virtually available to assist you with your career development needs. You can discuss career decision-making and planning, brainstorm your industry interests, review practicum and job search strategies, have your resume and cover letter reviewed, explore LinkedIn and the role of networking, conduct a mock interview, or navigate other questions.
Career counseling appointments are hosted via Zoom or phone and are available Monday-Friday, year-round. Availability is flexible and can be adjusted according to your scheduling needs. Employment and Practicum Opportunities
We understand the importance of finding a practicum or job opportunity that aligns with your career goals. With full access to PHLEX, you can search for practicum and volunteer opportunities, fellowships, graduate student positions (GSI, GSR), and full or part-time jobs.
PHLEX allows you to be in control of your search. You can:
- Explore employer profiles and find out which employers are actively recruiting School of Public Health students and alumni.
- Tailor your search by job type, industry, location, employer, and more.
- Create saved searches with daily or weekly updates when new positions are posted.
- Review your application history, and store your resume, cover letter, and other documents.

Workshops and Special Events
Career Services and the RISE host workshops and events to help you excel in your public health career. Held virtually, these offerings provide you with opportunities to enhance your leadership skills, enhance your career planning, and connect to alumni, prospective employers, and public health professionals.
Previous events include: interviews with alumni (Alumni Perspective Series), interactive trainings (LinkedIn – Advanced Profile and Networking), webinars (Managing Your Job Search in the Time of COVID-19 & Beyond), networking events (Career Cafe), and various employer spotlights.

Additional Resources
In addition to Career Services, the RISE offers practical leadership development programs and resources for current and emerging health professionals, including the online Leadership Toolkit. CPHPL also provides support for the Advocacy Initiative, which provides training for students to engage in campaigns to improve or protect health policies.
Public Health Alumni Association
After you graduate from the UC Berkeley School of Public Health, you become a member of our Public Health Alumni Association (PHAA), which sponsors a series of activities to improve networks and professional growth among our students and alumni. Alumni are also invited to serve on the PHAA Board of Directors, which the current 2023-2024 PHAA Board of Directors includes OOMPH alumni Alice Chu ’19, Francesca Lomotan ’17, and Riya Suising ’20.”
