Volunteer Opportunities

Stay involved by volunteering! Host an OOMPH Practicum or become an Ambassador.

Host an OOMPH Practicum Project

MPH practicum opportunities are invited year-round, ideally with advance notice to provide time for an application, selection, and orientation process.

We welcome all submissions via PHLEX, and invite you to reach out to team members Kandis Rodgers krodgers@berkeley.edu Schedule an appointment, or Caitlyn Green cgreen@berkeley.edu, Schedule an appointment to discuss your practicums, summer internships, and other professional opportunities.

Practicum Planning Details
  • Practicums may take place any time of year, anywhere in the world, and are largely remote.
  • With a minimum of 130 hours, practicums total hours and duration may vary.
  • You should have expertise in the assigned project areas and experience with/interest in supervision and mentoring, and provide students with clear expectations, support, and professional insights, including through regular meetings and feedback on student progress.
  • Our On-Campus/Online Professional MPH program students range from early-career to mid-career professionals with diverse interests in public health. While some are trained clinicians and/or working professionals, others are earlier in their careers.
  • As you evaluate your organization’s capacity to host an MPH student, please strongly consider allocating compensation in your operational budget in light of the previous work experiences/skills that our graduate students will contribute, and their varying capacity to take on a volunteer position.

Join the Ambassador Program

OOMPH Ambassador Application

UC Berkeley Online MPH Ambassadors are part of an official UC Berkeley alumni group of senior public health professionals who support OOMPH, a fast-growing public health online graduate program for future change-makers.

For one or more semesters, ambassadors are paired with mid-level professionals who are considering advancing or switching their careers in the public health sector and inform prospective students about their student experiences, choosing online formats, and career routes after graduation.

You will leave a lasting impression and your perspective is one that that will shape OOMPH students’ introductions to our program.
